I sometimes think that running has given me a glimpse of the greatest freedom a man can ever know, because it results in the simultaneous liberation of both body and mind.

Wow, thank you to everyone who entered my giveaway. I really enjoyed reading about everyone’s favorite gear. You guys must really like yoga. Or Pilates :) Speaking of Pilates, you all know I swear by the many benefits Pilates offers. Well, turns out I’m not the only one. Active.com posted an article on Facebook this morning about how everyone and anyone can benefit from Pilates. Check it out here.
If you are interested, here are some older posts I wrote on the benefits of Pilates:
Pilates for Runners
More Pilates
I love Pilates and try to take at least one mat class and one reformer class a week.
One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to improve the blog. As you can see, I take my resolutions very seriously.
Don’t expect major changes any time soon but I am working on it. I have added a Recipes Tab below my header, where I will link all the Athlete’s Palate recipes.
My workout yesterday was not good. I did 4 x 15 sets of (modified) pushups. Also working towards a fitness goal I set for myself in 2011. The problem is, that was all I did. Ooops. Better make up for it today. Those plyo jumps always make me so sore! Do they ever get easier?
Happy Friday everyone!
Question: Have you ever tried Pilates? What is one fitness goal you are working towards right now?
Besides training for Boston, I really want to improve my upper body & core strength. Push ups have always been very hard for me. Definitely an area I can improve on. Unfortunately, strength training for me, can get a little boring. Any tips?

I've done pilates a little bit, but I think because it doesn't get my heartrate going the way running does that it doesn't feel like it's doing anything for me.
My current goal is to train for and run my first half and full marathons this year!
I did the 6week 100 challenge for push ups last year. Google it. I followed it very loosely and by the end of it was able to crank out between 40-50 pushups (man pushups)!
A few years ago, a former employer hosted a Pilates class, twice a week for employees. During that time, I was in the best shape of my life and I attribute a lot of it to Pilates. Since then, I have been unable to find an instructor as good as that one and thus, haven't been as faithful about going. I need to get into again though - best kind of core workout out there!
I really want to be able to do pull-ups by the end of the year. I can crank out 20-30 pushups before I have to take a break, more would be great, but I have never been able to do an unassisted pull-up so I would really like to tackle that this year!
Girl, I LOVE your blog and you are too cute to buy all of those books ha!! So fun. I NEED to try pilates so so bad. You are my inspiration. I am trying to strength train more too but it is so hard to do while training!!! Hope you have an amazing day Gorgeous!!!
Love the tabs. Can't wait to see how the blog changes.
yea personally I view strength training in the gym as a big chore. I really don't like it and can't wait until I'm done with it and then start running! But I know that its necessary and good for you. Right now I don't really have any big goals, I got sick last week, and just want to be 100% so I can start working out again!
My current fitness goal is completing my 30-day yoga challenge! I also jsut ordered jillian Michaels no more trouble zone's dvd and want to do that 1-2 times per week once I get it!
I want to try Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, it seems intense!!!
And I was just reading about how to add tabs, although I haven't attempted yet...
